Description: Subsurface Investigation and Construction Quality Control
The Barnes Foundation is home to one of the world’s largest collections of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, and early Modern paintings. The center consists of a 94,500-square-foot building on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia between 20th and 21st Streets. The development of this site includes construction of a two-story art education facility, single-story catering structure(s), a guardhouse, associated parking and driveway areas, and courtyards with various landscape features. The facility is situated in the central portions of the site. There is an Auto Court and Service Court on the east and west sides of the art education building. The building will include retail and office space, exhibit and lobby/event space, education and seminar rooms, and auditorium areas. Earth Engineering Incorporated conducted a complete subsurface investigation and construction quality control for the project.
