This project for Buckeye Partners, LP required geotechnical investigation for the proposed six-inch Susquehanna River Pipeline Relocation from the northern and southern shores of the Susquehanna River in Vestal (Southern Shore) and Union Township (Northern Shore), Broome County, New York. The purpose was to connect the relocated pipeline to an existing line. The installation consisted of a horizontal directional drill procedure, which began on the northern side of the river and continues to approximately 2,220 feet beneath the river. A separate 220-foot section of directional drilling on the northern side of the river also tied into the existing pipeline. The project included a field investigation, a geologic analysis of the site conditions, laboratory testing of soil samples, and a geotechnical engineering analysis and report.
