Located on West Germantown Pike in East Norriton Township, Pennsylvania, the new medical center is a five-story, 363,000-square-foot hospital with 146 patient beds – 96 medical/surgical beds; a 22-bed intensive care unit; a 20-bed obstetrical unit; and an eight-bed neonatal intensive care unit. The campus will include an adjoining two-story, 75,000-square-foot medical office building with convenient, on-site access to primary care practices and specialists. The center opened in September 2012. Earth Engineering Incorporated (EEI) was involved in the preliminary planning stages of the facility through construction. Our services initiated with a Phase One Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) which identified a Recognized Environmental Condition leading to a Phase II ESA. We also performed a Preliminary Geotechnical Investigation and Preliminary Infiltration Investigation and Testing for site planning. Subsequently, EEI conducted a Supplemental Geotechnical Investigation and Infiltration Testing. We also designed the Crisis Access Roadway for emergency vehicle traffic and performed a stress analysis and provided recommendations for an existing pipeline subjected to construction traffic.
