The International Geosynthetics Society’s (IGS) Technical Committee on Reinforcement invited EEI’s Director of Geotechnical Design, Jay McKelvey, P.E., D.GE to present at their 1st Georeinforcement Workshop in Munich, Germany in June 2018. The requested lecture was on the Effects of Equipment on Veneer Stability, which is a series of technical papers Jay wrote in the early 90’s that IGS cited when awarding Jay the IGS Award in 1994. Jay’s presentation was included in the Reinforced Veneer Stability session, which included four other lectures from leading practitioners in the geosynthetics industry. The international workshop was well attended, with over 90 participants from around the world. Jay also gave an impromptu presentation on EEI’s successful Pocono Raceway project in the Facings of Walls and Steep Slopes session of the workshop. Both the lecture and impromptu presentation were well received and will be included in a white paper to be published by the IGS.
