James A. McKelvey, III, P.E., D. GE. F. ASCE –
Earth Engineering Inc. will be represented by our own Jay McKelvey at American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) National Capital Section’s Geotechnical Executive Committee Geotechnical Symposium in Tyson’s Corner, Maryland. The symposium focuses on Grade Separation and Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) Walls. Jay’s topic for discussion is Challenges in Reinforced Soil Structure Design. He will discuss typical site constraints, scour, and drainage issues, which can complicate the design of earth structures reinforced with geotextiles. These often overlooked design aspects have been shown to contribute to the distress and failure of these types of structures.
This presentation comes off the heels of his appointment as Technical Program Co-Chair for the Geosynthetics Conference 2015 and election to the Chair of the 2105-2016 Board of Directors for the ASCE Geo-Institute (DVGI) Delaware Valley Chapter.
