EEI recently provided engineering design and construction documentation for the scaling and stabilization of a large rock cliff in Bala Cynwyd, PA. The scalers can be seen secured by ropes on the face manually prying off loose rocks and boulders. The project included the careful removal of 875 tons of rock from the face as well as a combination of rock bolting, netting, and shotcrete. The shear height of more than 90 feet posed many challenges but the construction team of Ameritech Slope Constructors and Terra Structures persevered and completed the work under budget.
